Dr. Billy Dundon

Dr. Dundon is excited to join Chestnut Street Animal Hospital as Medical Director.

Dr. Dundon is originally from Ireland and grew up in Massachusetts. He knew he wanted to be a veterinarian from a young age and worked at local clinics throughout high school. He graduated from Providence College with degrees in Biology and History in 2010. Dr. Dundon earned his veterinary degree at University College Dublin in Ireland in 2014.

After spending several years practicing both large and small animal medicine in Wyoming and New Hampshire, he decided to further his education and skills by completing an emergency medicine and surgery internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in Rhode Island.

Dr. Dundon resides in Westwood with his wife, two sons, and their dog Logan. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family, watching the Irish rugby team, CrossFit, and anything outdoors.

Dr. Tamara Kremer Mecabell, DVM

Dr. Kremer Mecabell was born in Argentina, as a second generation of Ukranian and Polish immigrants. After finishing high school in Buenos Aires, she immigrated to Israel, where she studied Animal Sciences at the Hebrew University and Veterinary School at the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine. While studying and working in different part-time positions as a laboratory technician, a zoo keeper and pet store employee, she created a program of animal support to help adults with mental disabilities. She also volunteered as a math teacher to Ethiopian immigrants. This made her love to help people in different situations and she was honored with a special award at the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament.

Dr. Kremer Mecabell graduated in December 2004 and she moved to Boston, MA, following her husband in his dream to become a Harvard Professor.

In 2005, she volunteered in the Cardiology Department at Angell Animal Medical Center, worked as a veterinary technician in the Oncology Department, and later returned to complete her internship in Small Animal Medicine. She began private practice as a veterinarian for VCA in Newton Highlands, MA, helped organize the opening of Waltham's Angell West and now enjoys performing General and Internal Medicine in Framingham. Since 2017, Dr. Kremer Mecabell has been responsible for the dental procedures of our hospital, where she enjoys helping dogs and cats getting better smiles and owners receiving nicer kisses. Dr. Kremer Mecabell is also interested in Geriatric medicine and helping people navigate the difficulties and the joys of aging dogs and cats.

Dr. Kremer Mecabell is Fear Free Certified and is currently working on her Veterinary Dentistry Accreditation.

Dr. Kremer Mecabell is married and has two kids. She has been a resident of Needham for 9 years. She enjoys hiking when the weather allows it, playing with her kids, listening to music and singing, cheering her kids on their sports, whistling to her canary Capitan Zazu and playing around with her Standard Poodle Elvis. In her free time, she likes doing yoga and she likes to participate in Social Justice groups, especially volunteering in Food banks such as Community Service and helping local new immigrants. She is always busy and on the go but can always stop to ask people if they need help. She speaks Spanish, Hebrew, Portuguese and English, all with an accent and a smile!

Dr. Julie Medley

Dr. Medley graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in physiology. She earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, Phi Zeta, at the University of California, Davis. She then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan State University.

After moving to Massachusetts, Dr. Medley worked in small animal practices in the greater Boston area. In 1996, she co-founded the Chestnut Street Animal Hospital with Dr. Kelsey.

Dr. Medley is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

Dr. Medley and her family live with two Australian Shepherds and two cats.

Dr. Holly Kelsey

Dr. Kelsey is a graduate of Skidmore College in New York, as well as the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a V.M.D. (Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris).

Dr. Kelsey is a member of the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, American Association of Feline Practitioners and is a Board Member of the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Dr. Kelsey co-founded Chestnut Street Animal Hospital in 1996 with Dr. Medley.

Dr. Kelsey has 4 children along with many animals: a Dachshund, a cat, chickens, goats, parrots and a hedgehog.

Technicians

Alyssa

Alyssa joined Chestnut Street Animal Hospital after completing one of her Mt. Ida internships with us. She earned a degree in veterinary technology from Mt. Ida and will be taking the boards to become a certified technician (CVT) soon. Alyssa adopted a beagle named Petunia from school who now lives with her parents. She also has a cat named Skeeter who lives with Alyssa and who–Alyssa just discovered after walking in on him–taught himself to use the toilet! Now she’s just waiting for him to learn to flush.

Caroline

Caroline grew up in rural Concord, MA surrounded by pets, and wildlife and with a penchant for saving and treating foundling baby rabbits, caterpillars, and stuffed animals. Now, as an adult with over 12 years of veterinary experience, she knows to leave baby rabbits where they are, and has a 100% track record curing stuffed animals, but, still has very little knowledge of caterpillar medicine. Caroline lives with her three cats: Gabriel, Jake, and Elf.

Mary

Mary has worked at Chestnut Street Animal Hospital for 17 years. She lives with her husband and 3 dogs- Millie, Angie, and Winter.

Front Desk

Alec

Alec has worked at Chestnut Street Animal Hospital for over 12 years and has become a familiar and helpful face to our patients and clients. He has a bachelor’s degree from U-Mass Amherst in communication and has found himself involved in patient care for over 20 years. Before working with animals Alec was a chiropractic assistant/office manager in Waltham MA and an acupuncture assistant in Sarasota Florida. At home, Alec enjoys the company of Lennox, a ten-year-old orange kitty, who was surrendered to the clinic for health issues and now lives happily ever after.

Michelle

Michelle grew up in Dover, MA, She has worked at Chestnut Street Animal Hospital for over 13 years. Michelle started off as a client of Dr. Kelsey and Medley before joining the staff. Michelle is a graduate of Framingham State with a BA in Sociology. She lives with her German shepherd “Bruin”, 5 cats (Stella, Salem, Diva, Bear, and Jag), and a parrot named “Shelby.’

Administrative

Julie (“J”)

Julie is our Practice Manager and has over 30 years of veterinary tech experience. She has never imagined doing anything else. She lives with 1 dog and 2 cats.

Linda works in our office to handle administrative and financial tasks.
